These photos were taken in February 2009 in poor weather conditions.
They show sections of an estimated 300+ mixed flock of chaffinches and bramblings feeding on
the stubble fields in Over Wallop, Hampshire.
There were about 30 bramblings in the flock.
A large number would fly to the ground, feed, then fly back to the safety of the surrounding trees.
This behaviour was repeated many times.
