common blue damselfly
Female green-form. Both female forms show a thistle on s2 and large dark rocket-like shapes along the abdomen. They also have a triangular shape on s8. This species does not have a black line (or spur) on the side on the thorax and both sexes have very broad thoracic stripes. These are good identifiers.
common blue damselfly
Female blue-form. The diagnostic spine under segment 8 is visible. Also, the ovipositor is almost at the end of the abdomen. The brownish eyes show that this specimen is not quite fully mature.
common blue damselfly
The male has a shape like a golf-ball on a tee on s2.
