Why 'evoques' ?
Derived from French verb, évoquer : to evoke, to recall memories from the past,
as do many of the photos shown (and my love of the language).
The website was born in early June 2020.
Its raison d'être ...
I first got interested in art many decades ago when we were snowed-in at home.
I bought a set of coloured pencils and produced an acceptable picture of a kingfisher and I was encouraged to continue.
Over time, I experimented with watercolour and charcoals before settling on acrylic painting which has become my favourite medium.
Three examples of my work are shown on the left.
I attended a workshop where palette knives were used and I really enjoyed the freedom that these allowed.
Nowadays I often use a knife and combine it with brushwork.
There are no rules - it's whatever gives the desired effect.
I enjoy the thrill of participating in local exhibitions, often with pleasing results.

... and present a wide variety of wildlife photos e.g. BIRDS
Over the years I have taken a large number of wildlife photos, nearly all with various Sony bridge cameras,
and they live in a database on my Mac.
However, they don't see the light of day apart from casual viewing by visitors or maybe at a presentation.
On a web-site they are readily available to anyone interested (and it also gives me more backup).
Although many photos have been annotated there is no intention that the site serves as a field-guide.
Unless otherwise stated all wildlife photos have been taken by Neil Galton ©.
They could have been taken in other European countries, apart from the UK.
... and to offer some amusement
There is a FUN section that has a mixture of topics that may raise a smile
... ambiguous newspaper headlines e.g. FUN (chuckle)
- Giant waves down Queen Mary's funnel
- Lost boy found in Sandwich
- Star's broken leg hits box office
...
